Prom: The Night to Remember by: David Rios January 31, 2017
Of all the events of senior year, prom is the pinnacle of our senior activities. Being able to show off your class with the best dress or a perfectly tailored suit. Don’t forget the hundreds of dollars spent when putting the perfect night together, Even finding a prom date is a worry. Time of course does come into factor when planning an event, it can cause problems when trying to save money or finding the dress that was only available in the store that’s in another city. Less time can mean more problems. This year Carson Complex’s prom will be a bit earlier than usual. Prom was originally held in May but has now been moved forward into the month of April. Although it is not an extensive adjustment the time to assemble is cut short. 12th grader Destiny Williamson from The Academy of Education and Empowerment, says “I don’t like the fact that prom is early because it doesn’t give me enough time to get myself together.” She adds “I think it’s going to continue to be in April because they are not going to have the same party planner as 2017.” According to Gaston McWhinnie, 12th grader at Carson High School says “I like the fact prom is in April because it’s close to March and the end of the school year.” He added “I think they’re going to switch it back to May because it gives more time for people to get ready.” Stressing for some but another day for many it is a memorable event for any teenager.
